Didi loves climbing up the stairs! However we are moving out in 3 days time on the 12th Nov 2010 and Didi will not have a stairs to climb in the new house anymore :( However, there will be more playground activities for sure, as the playground at Casa Rosa is always littered with withered flowers fallen from the trees!

Reyes has 4 teeth on the top and hrmmm 2 or 3 teeth at the bottom? his weird "twin tooties" is still looking... weird. its like a big tooth with a "v" chip on it. its wider than his normal tooth and I wonder if it would affect his permanent set of teeth in future. It does take up about 1.5 of a tooth space.

Doctor Low didn't ask or tell us about the optional influenza jab which Gwenneth had at about 8/9 months. Mommy kinda remembered about optional jabs and re-read Gwenneth's blog...and Reyes too, did the jab a couple of days before he turns 10 months old :)

Reyes wakes up everyday at about 6ish am. He naps at about 10am for a while and takes porridge lunch at about noon, along with Jie Jie Gwenneth. He then takes his bath and nap for about an hour (depending on how noisy is Gwenneth playing /screaming). Sleeps at about 8 odd pm and wakes up at 11pm and 4am for milk. Still drinks about 90 - 120ml of milk.

Mommy felt that Reyes should be sleeping throughout and enjoy a uninterrupted rest for the whole night and Dr Low agrees that Reyes is waking up too often. Gwenneth has learnt to sleep through the night on her own, but Reyes is more fidgety in nature and is definitely a light sleeper. Dr Low suggested to add cereal into his last feed of milk and it worked! Mommy is happy that Reyes is getting quality rest at night at least!

Didi weighs about 9.8kg and is standing, YES, STANDING at 72cm tall. He was squirmish and insisted on flipping on that small weighing scale/chart and the nurse had to suggest to let him stand against the height chart! And he did without a fuss!

Mommy brought the 2 babies to Tanglin Mall to enjoy the xmas lightings and play foam snow. Reyes just held on tightly to both Mommy's hands and WALKED! Left, right, left, right on Gwenneth's old red croc shoes! Whenever you are ready Didi! Daddy and Mommy will always be there for you.

Reyes waves his hand when you say "bye bye" to him! So cute for a 9 months old! He even claps when asked to, and also clap along as you sing him a "happy birthday" song. Getting all rehearsed for his big day in Feburary

Mommy started on his birthday plans! Reyes's birthday falls on the eve of Chinese Lunar New Year. The good : he will be getting extra big ang pow from Daddy, Mommy, grandparents and God Pa! But the bad : Mommy cannot find a baker who is willing to bake a cake for the party, one saturday before the New year.

Mommy may have to resort to stacking 20 bah kwas and poke a "1st" birthday candle on it.

NO!

Don't worry Didi! Lao Niang will bake you the cake!

7 months

Finally, on the last week of his 7th month, Didi's left bottom tooth emerges!!! Haha...now he has a full blown bottom right tooth and a tiny growing one on the left! So cute!

Didi had a few trips to the beach, but this is the first that he is awake and have a go at the sand! Little Reyes has less exploration opportunities compared to Gwen. Mostly because Gwenneth is really sticky and cries each time i try to spend some bonding time with Didi. Mommy has plans to bring Reyes to attend Julia Gabriel classes just like Gwenneth, but start it off a little earlier at about 1 years old. This will let us have a chance to have some fun together, without the whinny Jie Jie. We are still in the midst of finding a temporary home for a year and maybe we can find a place near Evans road.

To make up for the attention that Reyes deprive of, Daddy and Mommy decided to bring Reyes on a "Reyes's day out!" Gwenneth was sent to Ah-mah's house as usual on this Sunday while Didi goes out with Daddy and Mommy. We decided to go to Riverside point's lantern festival event.

Enjoying outdoor play at our favourite balcony as much as we can! Mommy hopes to find a ideal place with a balcony if possible to let the children continue to have the option for waterplay and chalk scribbling on the floor. This is priceless childhood fun. We are probably looking at a condo unit for the pool facilities in case Gwenneth starts her swimming lessons at the age of 3. A place where Gwenneth and Reyes can grow up happliy and enjoy their childhood for 2 years is our priority. By then, Gwenneth would have turned 4 and Reyes 2. How fast!

Growing up.

70.5cm, 8.65kg

Didi Reyes is growing up bit by bit. At least this month, e has a few achievements to be proud of!

13 August 2010, at 6 and a half months, Reyes started crawling! Leopard crawl that is.
Daddy was reading the papers on the sofa and Reyes was squirming in between us. He was intrinsically drawn to the flapping edges of the papers under the ceiling fan and began to crawl towards it! Mommy was pleasantly surprised and took the papers to a "achieveable distance" and waved. Reyes just did what we wanted to see!

22 August 2010, just a day after Daddy's birthday, Mommy noticed his emerging toothsie, on the bottom left of his gums! A week later, the top left one followed and then the top right. Toothing biscuit begins!

When Mommy found out that she was pregnant with Gwenneth, she diligently logged on to Singaporemotherhood forums to learn more about pregnancy issues and compares little Gwenneth growth with the fellow June babies. Mommy was just a slient reader most of the time and attended about 3 of their gatherings. One was pre-birth, one post birth and the most memorable one was the mini xmas party was Gwenneth was 6 months old.

Then came Reyes, Mommy was no longer a rookie. She joined the forum and put herself on the list of February Mommies-to-be but like logged on for only 3 times in the entire 10 months. Eventually after Reyes was born, she asked the girls if Reyes could join in for any of their gathering so that Reyes get to see some of his little friends. At about 6 months old, Reyes had a February babies party too!

Oh well, it was really boring. Daddy and Mommy didnt know anyone one there and had try to remember the names of so many babies! The mummies were really nice to let us join in. Anyhow, it was quality time spent with Didi though!

Puree Puree Puree!

Just the same as Gwenneth, Reyes started his first experience with pureed solid, or rather, mashy liquid at 5 months old!

Mommy was kiasu and went by the "1 week rule" instead of the recommended 4 days, to omit any chance of allergies and monitors the "poo response" to each type of new food in his little body.

First week was plain Healthy Times brown rice cereal. Gwenneth had this for the longest time and I remembered ordering this direct from the supplier when I gave up hunting through every Cold Storage when it was out of stock for a while.

Damn. I should have kept the number. Other options sucks.

Week 2 was brown rice cereal with steamed organic apples!

Week 3 was has usual brown rice cereal with organic carrot.

Week 4 was organic sweet potato.

Reyes did just fine, tasting his every bit of yumminess in his mouth. He opens his mouth eagerly waiting for the next spoonful of goodness and would sometimes stuff the bib or his fist into his mouth to satisfy his taste buds when Mommy feeds too slowly! He would complain and want his next spoonful of cereal FAST!

Each time his cereal is being prepared, Gwenneth would quickly get the purple Bumbo chair and put it against the sofa, right at the spot that i usually feed DiDi, and sits on it. She then demands that she wants to eat cereal too, just like DiDi.

Gwenneth: "OH NO! Didi no space sit. How?"

We all had to coax her out of the chair, or wait till she gets bored of it.

Sometime, Gwenneth would be nice too, telling Didi its cereal time, and then helps with the bib. She makes attempts to feed DiDi too.

She is still a sweet sister afterall.

Mommy is worried that Gwenneth might offer other food to Reyes out of kindness, like raisins or bigger bite size food which make choke him. So from time to time, Daddy and Mommy would ask Gwenneth if DiDi can eat certain food.

Daddy : "DiDi can eat chocolate or not?"

Gwenneth :" Nooo...DiDi..cannot eat "choc-co-lod"... DiDi eat cereal oooonly."

Mommy : "DiDi can eat Play-Doh or not?"

Gwenneth :"Noo..DiDi cannot eat Play-Doooh. Eat already will die!"

We changed a Padeatrician for Reyes as Mommy didnt really like Dr Chan and Dr Lee was way too expensive.

Mommy decided to look for a doctor/clinic which has a convenient location for both the babies. By Alvis's recommendation we decided to see Dr Low at Paragon Medical centre.

Reyes is 67.5cm tall and 8.12kg.

Mommy was glad that Gwenneth got along fine with Dr Low and looks like we would be seeing Dr Low for all their routine immunisation. DiDi has a slight wave of fever after the injection but was fine after one dosage of medication

8.1kg

67.5cm

Mommy went on a cruise with her BFF and came home to realise that DiDi was running a fever for the past 2 days and no one told her about it! Por Por thought that he was warm on his forehead but his body was fine. I came home and tested on the trusted braun thermometer and he was indeed running a fever. I gave him medication as usual and his fever came down a little. Mommy nursed the little fella the whole night with tender loving care but his fever came up really high the next morning at 38.4 degrees just before Mommy and Daddy had to leave for a important work appointment. We drove DiDi to consult Dr Lee and decided to run a urine test to rule out urine infection. Uncle Ryan was activated to stay by Reyes's side to wait for the urine test result while Mommy rushed off to meet a client with Daddy for 2hours. Mommy and Daddy then came back to the hospital to fetch baby Reyes home when the result was negative. We decided to let Reyes rest and get well on medication in the comfort of our own home. He was expected to break out in rash and would be soon on the road of recovery in 2 days. Reyes is well and happy once again. Mommy felt sorry and wondered if this was all because Reyes was not on exclusive breastfeeding.

Reyes tries swimming for the first time!

Mommy tries to bring Reyes out along whenever possible though the logistics is a real .... sigh.

A army full pack of milk formula, hot water flask, extra change of clothes, wet wipes, diapers, miscellaneous and 2 strollers! The Combi Miracle turn served us well for a long time with Gwenneth. It was really light and went along with us on our first trip with baby to Australia when Gwenneth was 10 months old. Mommy contemplated for the longest time if she should get another stroller that would suit our needs for now, as Gwenneth couldnt sleep properly on the Thomas stroller which cannot recline fully. The Combi does, but the light frame cannot support the little toddler in time to come. Gwenneth also kicked a big fuss that DiDi is sitting on HER stroller.

So okay. It was time to part with some money and buy yet another stroller. We bought the Maclaren XT . Now we are going everywhere with it!
The problem is, Gwenneth wants this stroller too, and suggests, i mean order, Reyes to sit on the Thomas stroller instead.
NOVELTY!!!!

I think it is something to do with the canopy shade which she thinks its fun and of course, the comfort of a roomy seat.

I think we might have 2. The SAME.

Didi Reyes is a flipper too! He can flip merely a day into his 4th month and perfected the flip in 2 weeks. He can flip from either side in a breeze! His chubby fats was not in the way! Now he can choose to see things upright (not laying down) whenever he wants to!

Our condominium is going through painting works. Hence, Reyes has very few evening walks around the condominium compound. The scaffoldings, the workers and also the smell of the toxic paint is definately not worth the risk for the 2 babies. BUT Mommy promise! I will take them for more evening walks and trips to the playground when its all over! We shall walk around the neighbourhood and see other people's dogs!

Didi is a timid boy. He is easily startled by loud noise like the plane, loud conversations at parties and even when the lift door opens! I guess its all because Reyes has not been going out as often as Gwenneth did when she was a baby. I guess he deserves a lot more exposure and maybe the sun! He is so fair! Almost glowing in the dark! But how cute is a pui pui and white white baby!

Reyes has also grown to have the habit of sleeping with his beanie and tutu too.. not that he likes it...but Mama thought that its comfy to sleep with a beanie to hug between his small arms and it stops the tutu from dropping out!

Recently, Gwenneth does not like getting Reyes involved in anything. She no longer wants to hug or kiss Didi anymore. Especially when she is going out without Reyes, she does not want to give a goodbye hug/kiss at all.

Mommy :" Gwen, can Didi go gai gai too?"
Gwen : "No. Didi stay at home"

Didi is the little one who would be quietly at one corner, waiting for his turn to be showered with love and attention. It is definately more challenging to divide our attention between the babies. Gwenneth is now a toddler and she knows how to demand for attention. She would say things like "Mommy play with me...", while Didi is contented with the care of the maid with just milk, sleep and carry. I love Didi just as much cause he is such a sweetheart. He smiles to the camera all the time, chuckle at every peek-a-boo, and is never a fussy baby. Though recently he no longer likes to be carried in a cradle manner (wanna be carried upright.I believe it has something to do with the better view!) When he is uncomfortable which the position he is being carried, he would give lour complains of "EH! EH! EH!" and knit his eyebrows in an angry expression! So funny! It always makes me laugh. My little sunshine is a charmer with his good looks and his stinko fist and toes smells heavenly!! (okay. out of point)

Daddy, on the other hand spends priority time with his princess. Play rough games like letting her step on his forehead and balance (!!!) and massaging each other's feet with Body Shop's cream. (come to think of it, they do weird things togther huh?) Daddy says that Reyes's special time will come when he follows him to his soccer games and doing "boys things" together. Daddy always sings praises of Didi's big eyes and his handsome-ness!

Mommy does not believe in favouritism in the house. Both the children are the most important in our lifes and nothing will ever change that. No matter what may happen in future, our love for the both of them is ever growing and unconditional.

I would often say this to Gwenneth : "Mommy loves Gwenneth, Mommy loves Reyes. Same."

And then i point to her favourite smelly and pacifier, saying "Gwenneth loves beanie, Gwenneth loves tutu. Same."

I careful to not make comparisons too...I will say things like :

  • "See? Didi finsih eating already... Why you havent finish your rice?"
  • "If you don't sit on the chair, i will let Didi sit already ah...."
  • "If you naughty then Mommy dun love you already. Mommy loves Didi ok?"

I feel that all such statements will foster hate in her little brother as she had to do something which she doesnt wish to, all because she had to compete with Reyes. I had to reinforce that Mommy with not love either one less in our everyday conversations.

Didi weighs 7.7kg !

He is drinking 100ml per feed and is 20% on Enfalac. Mommy hangs on to breastfeed Reyes as long as possible, not being confident how much longer before Reyes is on total formula feed.

DiDi Reyes has his Ji Tui ceremony too! Mommy bought the roasted drumstick from Five star chicken rice after his 4 months check up.

Reyes head shape lop sided.

Ah mah has warned Mommy many times to change his sleeping position often so that the back of his head would be round and nice. I did just that for Gwenneth as she sleeps with us throughout her first year. However, Reyes sleeps with the maid as he wakes up at night for night feeds and his cries disturbs Gwenneth. I end up having to juggle between 2 crying babies! Reyes likes to sleeps on his right by habit. He likes to turn his head and look right when he is being carried upright too.So when Reyes falls asleep finally after his maid feed and burping in the middle of the night, the maids naturally does not wish to move Reyes's head position in case he cries again.

Hence Reyes ended up having a protuding left angle on the back fo his head. This is particularly obvious when i bath him and see his head from top view. Since then, I dilligently tuck a beanie under his right cheeks, so that he has no choice but to turn to the left. The condition did improve, but you will still see it. Hope it will go away soon and see his round round head again.

My little growing and changing Reyes.

Reyes weighs 7kg at 3 months, just exactly like his sister! He put on 2 times the weight he was born in merely 3 months! How true that babies grow fatter on milk outside the womb. My worries of having a petite son is so unnecessary!

Reyes is definitely more generous with his smiles than his grumpy sister. When Mommy taps her index finger on his chin, and talk to him in baby language, he smiles!

Its a pity that Reyes is not lucky enough to be on exclusive breastfeeding. Mommy tries her best anyhow and she thinks Reyes deserves more than 6 months because of that. Mommy is thankful that he is growing very well despite that.

He doesnt like to be cradled like a baby anymore. Perhaps its because he gets a better view of everything when carried upright

Mommy brings the little boy to jacob ballas children garden. Mommy like the idea of how the ang mo let their kids t have their freedom to explore and learn from each little experience from everyday play. Mommy is somehow less meticulous about cleanliness on Reyes. Maybe because he is a boy, maybe Mommy has outgrown the stage of a anxious "first-time Mommy". Mommy would allow him to crawl on the floor and free to touch anything or even chew at a dried leaf by the pool (at least i wouldnt scream at the sight of that) but of course, safety and basic hygiene is still paramount.

Jie Jie bathes me in a little white tub. More often then not, Gwenneth would rush to the kitchen island and says that she wants to bathe for dinner. Splashing water on didi face sometimes out of mischief and asking "What is this!!!" (pointing to that 2cm of didi's dear life)

"Its a penis!" "Boys have penis-es!" Mommy would say.

Sibilings love!

Not scared k!
Jie Jie is here!

Kiss you!

Dun run!

Mommy had a lot of breast feeding problems this time round. The supply was a lot lower than what Gwenneth had 2 years ago. Reyes had to resort to drinking Enfalac on occasions and Mommy heartaches to see Reyes hungry and he seems to prefer Mommy's milk. Little Reyes feeds on 100ml every 3-4hours and sometimes even at shorter intervals when he get hungry.

He is a growing boy!

Reyes is 5.9kg and 58cm tall!

Starting to look chubby and cute!
